French Kiss 75 Mocktail

It’s a new year, and a new time to begin new traditions or habits to get you feeling your best self. For me, I like to start off the year with a dry January to help my body recover from the holidays. Alcohol can be very inflammatory for your body’s organs and skin, and everything in between. Going dry from alcohol can be one of the most beneficial things you can do for your health, but it can also be one of the hardest to give up.

We’ve all been there, you give up alcohol for a time period, but then when you finally make it to a party or celebration, you end up having to explain yourself for your positive choices. Sometimes you wish you could just blend in with the crowd and still enjoy yourself. Well, this mocktail is here as your wingman or wingwoman to keep the party going, even when you’re sober.

Drinks like this will be your best friend when you decide to go dry because of a few reasons. First they look like the real thing and nobody will tell the difference. Second, if anything your friends will be impressed by your beautiful beverage. Third, your body and mind will love you afterwards, especially the next morning. Lastly, I gave this drink a fun name of French kiss, which elevates any beverage to the next level!

So at your next get together, you can parade around with your French Kiss 75, and everyone will be jealous of your fancy drink. Mocktails over cocktails!

Makes 5 Champagne Flutes or 2 Mocktails

The Goods:

For the hibiscus simple syrup:

For the hibiscus French 75: ***For Each Flute Glass***

  • 3/4 oz fresh orange juice

  • 3-5 oz soda water or champagne

  • splash of hibiscus simple syrup

  • orange peel twist garnish

The Method:

  1. Heat a small sauce pan with the hibiscus tea and coconut sugar on medium heat. Stir and dissolve the sugar in the tea, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

  2. Ready your flute glasses, empty and clean. In each glass pour your 3/4 ounce each of orange juice. ***If you are making just 2 mocktails, you can double up on the orange juice.***

  3. Carefully top each glass with soda water, try to keep the mixture settled at the bottom.

  4. Carefully add a splash of hibiscus syrup to each glass and watch the syrup fall to the bottom. Leave it unstirred. Once people pick it up and start drinking, it will slowly mix on its own.

  5. Garnish with small orange peel.

  6. Cheers at your next celebration with peace of mind of sobriety.
