Jalepeno Cucumber Mock-a-rita

Trying to be healthy and sober but still wanting to scratch that cocktail itch? This is your calling. This mocktail margarita will fool every single one of your tastebuds. Made with all the same ingredients but without the dangers of alcohol. Perfect for everyone at the party, even the kids!

This mocktail hits all the flavor zones, it’s a bit sweet, spicy, tart, savory, and citrusy. It’s simple, easy, and quick to make…. plus no one, including your own brain will know the difference from a real margarita. I made this from inspiration and my love for tequila/mezcal, with a health conscious twist.

FYI- Be wary of your jalapeños you use, some can be spicy and some can be flaming hot. Tread lightly with this one, unless you like some heat in the kitchen, then you’re all set with this recipe.

Makes 2 Mocktails

The Goods:

  • Juice from 2 limes

  • 3-4 slices cucumber

  • 1/4 of jalapeño, deseeded

  • 1 oz agave syrup

  • 3 oz orange juice

  • soda water

  • 3 tbsp tajin spicy salt

The Method:

  1. On a small plate, pour tajin spicy salt into a circle. Next, grab two rocks glasses, and wet the rim with a lime wedge. Flip each glass upside down and coat the rim with salt. Fill glasses with fresh ice, set aside.

  2. In a cocktail shaker or large mason jar, add lime juice, cucumber, jalapeño, agave, and orange juice. With a wooden spoon or muddler, gently muddle fruit for 5-10 seconds to release the oils.

  3. Add 2-3 handfuls of ice to shaker or mason jar, and shake for 10-15 seconds. Strain evenly into both rocks glasses, and there should be room at the top leftover.

  4. Fill the rest with soda water. Garnish with a cucumber slice and jalapeño slice. Enjoy immediately!
