Golden Strawberry Matcha

Matcha lovers, this one is for you! I partnered with the mock-tail queen, Blair from @holisticrendezvous for this one. From start to finish this matcha latte is luscious, creamy, sweet and perfectly spiced. The cashew milk is homemade with golden milk spices and it’s paired with strawberry jam. You can double this matcha as a golden milk recipe and a low waste hack for the end of a jam jar (perfect for earth month!).

If you have morning anxiety and are usually a coffee drinker, I would hop over to the matcha side for this one to see if it will help you kick your morning or mid-day anxiety to the curb. Matcha has L-theanine in it which is an amino acid that helps the caffeine have a more “slow roll” and long lasting effect rather than the rollercoaster of coffee. This is also paired with the golden milk which is anti-inflammatory so it’s perfect for your luteal phase or if you just need a little extra TLC to start the day. This recipe makes either 2 8oz matches or a giant 16oz for those mornings you need a little extra kick.

Makes about 2 (80z) iced lattes:

The Goods:

  • 1/2 cup cashews

  • 2 cups cold water

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 1/2 tsp ginger

  • Pinch cardamom

  • Pinch salt

  • Pinch black pepper

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1 tsp matcha

  • 1/2 cup hot water

  • 1/4 cup strawberry jam

The Method:

  1. Grab a blender and make the golden milk by adding the cashews, cold water, cinnamon, turmeric, ginger, cardamom, salt, black pepper and maple syrup. Blend on high for 90 seconds and set aside.

  2. In a small bowl add the matcha and hot water and whisk until the matcha becomes a sludge.

  3. Grab two glasses (or one 16oz glass), and smudge 2 tbsp of jam on the sides of each glass. Fill with ice, then golden milk 3/4 of the way full and then top with 1/2 the matcha on each glass. Enjoy with a straw. Cheers!

  4. You’ll have leftover golden milk - it will last in the fridge for a week!
