Bai’s Ultimate Cold Cure

Have a cold? Starting to feel that tickle in the back of your throat? Sneezing or seasonal allergies got you down? Have the flu? If you’ve answered yes to any of these questions, you NEED this cold cure. I have been using this recipe for the last decade after creating it from a moment of desperation with the flu. This recipe is what I give to all my clients, what I make for my family members and is my personal life line to kick a cold in its tracks. I actually even used this when both my husband and I got Covid and it helped our symptoms from getting worse and helped us feel better fast!

Normally, I would make this as a single serving into a tea, but I thought why not make it into a batch of ice cubes? This way, you can make at the beginning of cold season so that when you start to feel the early affects of a cold, its ready to go and all you have to do is drop the ice cube into hot water. It’s about holistic wellness and kicking over the counter cold medicine that has artificial coloring, chemicals and doesn’t do much to boost the immune system - just suppresses symptoms. This cold cure will do both, it will suppress symptoms and help boost your immune system so you can let your body do what it does best, heal.

I’ll be honest, the flavor of this is wild, and is a bit easier to palette if you add a little sweetener to your tea - especially if you are giving to kiddos. Make this tea 3 times a day at the start of a cold and until you feel back to your amazing self.

Makes 25 cubes / 25 cups of tea

The Goods:

  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp cayenne

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar

  • 2 whole lemons, rinds removed

  • 1 cup fresh ginger

  • 5-6 cloves garlic, peeled

  • 12 oz water

The Method:

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend for 2 minutes until everything is super smooth.

  2. Grab an ice cube tray (silicone works best!) and pour the contents of the blender into the ice cube tray.

  3. Freeze for 6 hours - overnight and transfer to a freezer safe container to use for later.

  4. To make the tea, boil filtered water, pour into a mug and then add one ice cube per serving!

  5. Feel better!
